1 day left

Been studying for the past few weeks on a nonstop regimen. But here I am the day before the test and everyone around me is sick of my studying. The animals would hang around me and sleep most of the time are over it. At this point I'm just focused on finishing this exam and giving it my all. I hope to breathe a sigh of relief afterwards. Here's to staying strong and knowing that the finish line is within sight :)

Programming while pregnant

Could I be influencing my baby's career while it's in the womb? I'm programming an FPGA and an microcontroller while pregnant. We shall see if any of this early exposure will affect it's career choices later. I guess there won't really be a way to determine that but at the moment it is fun to contemplate.

My Pregnancy Progress

So school has been keeping me super busy and I've been lacking the time to be creative. Instead, I decided to use my blog to document my pregnancy. Here I am at 13 weeks pregnant :)

We couldn't ask for a better dog. Mandy is kind, sweet, and very mellow. I thought I'd share what she's been doing while I study.

My latest project- Felt Flowers

I have started to make felt based flowers.  A few months ago I bought some fabric letters and my husband spray painted them a light blue that matches the furniture in our family room.  One day Mandy decides that one of the letters looked delicious and chewed on a corner.  I decided to cover up the bite marks with my felt flowers.  Here is the finished product, the pictures are a bit yellow since I took it late at night:

The finished doggie bed!

Although I finished the bed several weeks ago, I have been so busy with work, school, and life that I have not posted anything in a while. Here is a picture of the finished bed :).  Mandy loves it.

Progress of Mandy's Doggie Bed and the Bean Bags

I thought I did not give enough information on the reasons for the bean bags.  My very good friend Charlie was having a tailgate party at his house for the Florida vs Tennessee game.  On the Thursday before the game he asked me to make him bean bags for his corn-hole game.  That was the source of my request...  I woke up early on Saturday and started working.

Ahh!  My first time sewing.

Working hard on Saturday Morning

Mandy's bed cut and ready to be sewn, I hope she likes it

Almost done!  All it needs is more stuffing and few more stitches.

Next Post will be the finished bed!

Working on a Speech

I will be giving a short speech at a fundraiser on Friday for a scholarship program.  I really believe in this cause.  I am hoping I covey that to the audience Friday night.  Look out, I will be posting my speech as soon as I finish it.

New Mission: Learn to Sew

I am so excited to start sewing and making my own patterns. My first project is to sew Mandy a bed, so she can stop sleeping on the couch. I want to make her a bed that is very pillowy, since she loves sleeping on our couch pillows.

My First Painting - Birds on a Branch

In Spring of 2010, I decided to start painting. Our house has built in shelves in every room of the house, which we loved when we bought it, but I could not find what to do with this one in particular. I am fascinated by birds and love seeing them perched on tree limbs.

The two birds perched are Derek (my husband) and I. The flying bird represents our future. I first stenciled my design on the wall and then painted over it using acrylic paint. When guests comment on it, I love telling them that I painted it.

My lovely Grandmother

Mama Blanca passed away on 08/13/2010, but she will live forever in my memories. I have posted my favorite picture of her, but in her youth she was known as the Queen of Style and was gorgeous. She won't meet my children but I believe she is watching over us.
